Maintaining your home can easily be done by repairing walls filled with dents, dings, and scuffs. Here are easy steps on how you can fix your walls in no time

Patch Drywall in order to Smooth Walls

A putty knife, spackle, or joint compound can cover up a damaged wall that ages a room.

Dents and dings: A quart of spackle and a putty knife can a lot of small wall indentations. To save time, thoroughly wipe away excess spackle. Spackles are compatible with painted walls. Use this rather than a joint compound, though it takes a bit longer to dry.
Fist-sized holes: For holes with patches, use Joint compound when covering it up. Apply two thin coats of compound and use fine grit sandpaper smoothen repairs on the wall.
Nail pops: These are normally seen often. To eliminate, hammer the popped nail back into the wall. For a better surface, pull the nail out with pliers and refasten the drywall to the nearest stud with another set of screws. Fill the dents with two or three coats of joint compound. Sand again until smooth and then repaint.

Remove Marks for a Cleaner Surface

Get rid of scuff marks and fingerprints:

  • Spray an all-purpose cleaner onto a cloth. Do not spray directly on wall to avoid drips and eliminate dirt.

  • Pour a little dish soap onto a damp cloth and wipe the mark.

  • Use a sponge and scoop up a mixture of of dish soap, baking soda, and water, for scrubbing scrub grime.

  • Dab toothpaste onto a towel or toothbrush and scrub on walls with crayon marks

Touch Up What You Can’t Wipe Out

Touch-ups are necessary for leftover paint on walls. For touch-ups, use the same type of brush or roller the original painter used for finishing the surface. If touch-ups stand out, you will have to paint the entire wall. Make sure to paint every corner and avoid splatters on the floor, ceiling, and adjacent walls.
